Rockingham Added to Schedule
It’s now official. We will race Labor Day weekend at Rockingham Motor Speedway at the American Speed Association (ASA) event August 29-30. This event will replace the previously scheduled SCCA Mid-Ohio event September 6-7.

The ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour has signed a deal to race on the road course at Rockingham Motor Speedway Friday and Saturday August 29-30 (Labor Day weekend). It will be promoted jointly by the speedway and by ASA. They have invited us to run a race as part of the weekend.

There will be two, possibly three, race groups. The ASA Late Models, our series and the series that used to be the Goody’s Dash cars.

Friday is all practice. Though the schedule has not been set yet, best guess is that we will have either three or four sessions of around 30 minutes each.

Saturday there will be one practice session early in the morning, a qualifying session late morning and we will race in the afternoon, just before the ASA feature race. The race will likely be 40 minutes in length. Practice and qualifying will likely be around 30 minutes each.

It’s possible to make this a one-day race – Saturday only – for those who wish to. Entry fee is the same for one or two days. For Friday we had to agree to a back-gate fee of $20 per person additional, since they’re charging that to their teams. There is no gate fee on Saturday for us. Garage space is included in the entry fee.

This promises to be a good weekend with a professional atmosphere, exactly what this series was conceived to be. We don’t know how many fans to expect the first year, but there will be fans.
