ASA Has Cancelled Rockingham |
ASA has been forced to cancel the Rockingham Labor Day Weekend race, and with it our support race that weekend.
I just talked with Micky Cain of the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, and apparently the track added on thousands of dollars in additional fees and deposits in the contract that were not covered in their talks. The additional costs, which came as a complete surprise, made the race weekend untenable for ASA. Having had a little experience in that area, I can verify that that’s not the first time I’ve seen or heard of that sort of thing happening. Everyone on ASA’s and our end did their best and dealt straight with each other, and it’s difficult to fault ASA on this. They say they’ll try again next year, a little wiser in the ways of dealing with road courses – it’s a different world than dealing with short track promoters. When they do, we’re invited.
It’s too late to try to put Mid-Ohio back on the schedule, so we’ll just move on to VIR in late September with SVRA.
At least no one’s going to tear up their car before then.
That’s the highlights. Film at eleven. |
